CLPA Trust works with key public health advocates and organization to shape public policy to address public health concerns in Bangladesh. CLPA Trust also working on other critical public health issues including public health and emergency preparedness, food safety, hunger and nutrition, climate change and other environmental health issues, public health infrastructure, disease control, international health, NCDs, and tobacco control.
Our ICT4D and Rights program has developed to ensure people access to the govt. system. CLPA aware people about govt. ICT4D facilitate, provide support to use. CLPA collecting people challenges and run policy advocacy to fixed. CLPA and cloud system jointly develop apps to ensure people access.
Our Civic education program develops to educating citizens on their rights, duties, and responsibilities to empower and motivate them to identify what areas of the political and governance processes they can effectively participate in; what they can do to influence political outcomes and thereby improve the quality of governance at both local and national levels. CLPA Civic education program base on the social media campaign to educate youth about the rights, encourage people to participants govt. law and policy development process.
CLPA is an organization whose mission is to protect, preserve and Bangladesh Environment through education, policy reform, agency advocacy, and public interest litigation. CLPA Trust brings a new form of creative public advocacy effectively linking environmental progress and economic development that improves the quality of life in our communities.
Ours protect to child program mission to ensure a safe environment in Bangladesh. We have national level Policy advocacy to ensure proposer implementation of Child Act 2013 and Child Policy. CLPA continue working to ensure playground and physical activities facilities in the city. We also jointly develop Community Intervention program health and life skill. CLPA and Alcohol have health program to regular check-up child health and sensitizes about personal health. Save the Coastal people and CLPA has joint life skill program in Barisal division.
A workshop on Non-communicable Disease Related Law and Policy was held on 02 February 2019 at BER auditorium at Dhaka University. Public Health interested Lawyers from the different bar have attended the workshop. The program jointly organized by ARK foundation and Center for Law and Policy Affairs.
Dr. Parves Shanawaz, Deputy Program manager (NCDs), DGHS presented a paper on NCDs situation and Advocate Syed Mahbubul Alam presented the paper on NCDs related law and policy of Bangladesh.
Syed Mahbubul Alam said, according to legal research in Bangladesh there are 8 policies and 26 Laws those are related to the NCDs. Those laws and policies helped the government to protect publish health such as regulated unhealthy food marketing and production, ensure people physical activities facility, tobacco, and drug control etc.
The program chaired by Professor Rumana Huque and Mohammad Ruhul Quddus, former Additional Secretary, GOB and Shafiqul Islam, former Additional Secretary, GOB and Head of Program Vital Strategies, Bangladesh was attended as a guest of honor of the program and Dr. Deepa Barua, Research Associate was moderate the program.
Civic knowledge and responsibility are one of the key issues to develop the nation. Civic education is the process of educating citizens on their rights, responsibilities, and duties to empower and motivate them to identify what areas of the governance processes they can effectively participate in; what they can do to improve the quality of governance at both local and national levels. To improve Civic Education among Bangladeshi citizen Center for Law and Policy Affairs (CLPA) and American Alumni Association (AAA) jointly organized a discussion meeting on Challenges of Civic Education in Bangladesh and the Way Forward, on 17 February 2018 at AAA conference hall, Bannai, Dhaka. In the meetings lawyer, academia, environmental advocate, social workers, writer and youth leader were the participant.
Center for Law and Policy Affairs-CLPA are providing technical support to the Mastul Foundation to develop their senior staff capacity on Civic Education. Mastul Foundation is a youth base organization who has around five thousand youth volunteer around the country. Mastul Foundation are planning to organize different event to develop youth Civic skill.
To aware youth about the Environment law and court of Bangladesh Center for Law and Policy Affairs and Human Rights Advocacy Cell, Dhaka International University organize a workshop on Environment Law and Court. During the workshop presenter discuss about the challenges of implementation of Environment law. Speakers said, The Environment Court in Dhaka and Chittagong remains somewhat ‘inactive’ due to different reason. The court had been set up to deal with cases concerning environmental issues. A public prosecutor and officials of various designations were appointed to conduct the proceedings. But currently the court mainly handles civil and criminal cases in the absence of environmental ones. In the workshop near about 30 youth was participated.
To capacity building of Consumers Rights advocate Center for Law and Policy Affairs-CLPA, Save the Environment Movement and CCS- Conscious Consumers Society jointly organize a workshop on Consumers Rights Law. CCS is one of the leading organization, who are advocating to implement the law in Bangladesh. CCS has over 3000 members around the country. CLPA and CCS are working together to educated them Consumers Rights issues.
