Community Intervention
CLPA implements community-based initiatives in collaboration with local partners across Bangladesh, with a strong emphasis on public health and life-skills development for children. These programs are jointly delivered with NGOs and are designed to generate grassroots insights, which CLPA translates into national-level policy dialogue and reform efforts. In addition, CLPA serves as the secretariat of the Citizen Network, a platform comprising 30 CSO members from 30 districts, bringing together diverse local expertise and firsthand knowledge of community-level challenges.
Policy Review and Research
CLPA has strong expertise in policy analysis and research, providing technical support to civil society organizations (CSOs) and NGOs to review and assess policies based on their needs. The organization has conducted significant research on areas such as water law, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), urbanization, public transport, safe food laws, environmental justice, health rights, HIV patient rights, pedestrian safety, and e-waste management in Bangladesh.
Capacity Building
CLPA adopts a comprehensive and inclusive approach to capacity building for civil society organizations (CSOs), NGOs, lawyers, and youth, aimed at strengthening their knowledge, skills, and engagement in rights-based advocacy and policy processes. Through tailored training, workshops, mentorship, and practical learning opportunities, CLPA enhances participants’ understanding of legal frameworks, policy analysis, advocacy strategies, and community engagement. The organization emphasizes hands-on learning, peer exchange, and real-life case studies to ensure practical application of knowledge. By fostering collaboration and leadership, CLPA empowers these stakeholders to actively contribute to policy reform, promote accountability, and advance social justice and human rights in Bangladesh.
Policy Advocacy
CLPA’s advocacy efforts focus on key areas including public health, environmental protection, child rights, civic education, ICT for development (ICT4D), and human rights. The organization supports partner CSOs in policy mapping, developing policy briefs, and designing advocacy campaigns. CLPA actively engages policymakers and stakeholders to raise awareness on critical issues and is a founding member of the Sustainable Development Network of Bangladesh—a platform of over 100 NGOs working to advance SDG implementation in the country.
Media Advocacy
Media engagement is a central component of CLPA’s advocacy strategy. The organization collaborates with both print and online media partners to amplify its messages and regularly contributes to public discourse on policy issues through various media platforms.
Litigation
The Center for Law and Policy Affairs (CLPA) adopts a strategic litigation approach to establish and protect fundamental rights, particularly for marginalized and underrepresented communities. By identifying critical gaps in laws and policies, CLPA engages in public interest litigation to challenge unjust practices, ensure accountability, and promote the enforcement of constitutional and human rights standards. The organization combines legal action with research, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement to create lasting impact, often using litigation not only as a tool for remedy but also as a catalyst for broader policy reform. Through this approach, CLPA seeks to strengthen access to justice, uphold the rule of law, and contribute to the development of a rights-based legal framework in Bangladesh.
