Nishat Mahmood, is a practicing Advocate and Barrister at Law who is also an environmentalist. Professionally she is an expert on personal and business issues as well as related bankruptcy laws revolving around banks and real estate. 

Although Ms Mahmood is mainly a litigation as well as corporate practitioner, she has delved into legal research for policy reviewing and advocating on public health and environmental issues for having keen interest in changing policy for the betterment of the general people. Her interests currently revolve around public health and environmental issues. She has thus involved herself into actively participating with the activities of NGOs as well as pressure groups such as BRAC NGO, Poribesh Bachao Andolon (POBA), Research and Empowerment Organization (REO). She is also actively participating into activating Environment Courts in Bangladesh in collaboration with Poribesh Bachao Andolon (POBA). 

Nishat Mahmood has obtained LL.B from University of London, UK in 2007 and LL.M from University of Wales, UK in 2010. She has also obtained Post Graduate Diploma from the City Law School, City University London and in the same year in 2011 was called to the English Bar from the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.
