Syed Mahbubul Alam a public health and environment policy expert and working on policy advocacy issues over 21 years. He also founders of the Center for Law and Policy Affairs, a policy advocacy and research-based NPO organization and also Legal Concern (a legal consultancy firm). Throughout his career, he has supported and led tobacco control law and policy development. He served as a legal expert on tobacco and policy drafting committees of Ministry of Healy and Family Welfare of Bangladesh. 

 

 

I recently created a website on public health law with a specific section on laws and policies relating to healthy diets in Bangladesh. Additionally, I contribute two studies on fiscal and regulatory mechanisms for promoting healthy diets in urban Bangladesh and Legal and policy measures for healthy diet promotion in Bangladesh, both funded by IDRC and IDLO. To reduce transportation costs in Bangladesh’s urban areas, I also organized a discussion with the agriculture department and the Bangladesh Railway. I assisted to organize a meeting in February 2023 with the Ministry of Health and all nutrition partners to advance a healthy diet in Bangladesh.  We are currently developing an urban agriculture policy to lower costs and increase the consumption of fresh, nutrient-dense foods in Bangladesh.

 

 

I have been regularly writing articles in newspapers, on Public Health, Environment, Child and Women Rights, and others legal issues. He also co-writer of different publications and his article/abstract has also been published different international journals.

 

 

He holds an LLM from World University of Bangladesh, and an advocateship from Bangladesh Bar Council. He also received Global leadership in Tobacco Control Course from John Hopkins School of Public Health and Advocacy training from Advocacy Institute.
